Managing Nausea and Vomiting
WebAn empty stomach can make nausea worse. Eat slowly to keep from filling your stomach too quickly. Eat plain foods. Foods that are spicy, high in fat, or overly sweet can make nausea worse. Do not drink alcohol. Try to drink fluids at least 30−60 minutes before or after meals instead of with the meal. Wear loose fitting clothing. Get lots of rest.

Easy to Chew Diet
WebChoose soft moist foods. You may need to chop, mince, or mash foods to make them easier to chew. Avoid dry, crispy, stringy, or tough foods as these are hard to chew. Use butter, margarine, oils, salad dressing, or sour cream to moisten foods. Blend fruits into smoothies, milkshakes, popsicles, puddings, or sauces.

WebMethotrexate is a drug that reduces inflammation and the body’s response to this inflammation. It is also used as chemotherapy to slow cell growth, in the treatment of cancer. Methotrexate can be taken orally as a pill or can be given as an injection. This will be up to your IBD physician’s discretion.
Eating Well after Ostomy Surgery
WebFor the first 6 to 8 weeks after surgery, your bowel is healing. This means that some foods may bother it. Spread 4 to 6 small meals throughout the day. Do not skip meals. Eating moderate amounts of food regularly promotes normal bowel habits. Smaller meals in the evening may slow stoma output at night.
